For those new to this forum, share a little about yourself and Plum & Parcel.

I am Austin Kapur. I’m the founder and CEO of Plum & Parcel, an integrated marketing communications agency enabling intentional, purpose-driven businesses to be seen and heard. I’m a wife and mama of two who loves Jesus and resides in Orange County, California. Plum & Parcel’s motto is “we tell stories that shine”. We’re all about driving more light into this world by sharing thoughtful, integrated stories that break through the darkness. We execute this best for companies with purpose, including brands like YouCaring (acquired by GoFundMe), Visa and other financial services, e-commerce and consumer product businesses.

The motivation behind Plum & Parcel

[God has] continued to give me opportunities to serve clients that are intentionally helping people around the world, and to build a business that brings joy and healing to my life and those lives around me.”

What motivated you to start Plum & Parcel?

God. He has given me gifts and desires I understandably can’t explain, including starting things from scratch and seeing them through to completion. Plum & Parcel originally came out of a desire for ownership and responsibility in 2014, and then out of a need for more meaningful and flexible work in 2022. With limited effort (others would say otherwise), He’s continued to give me opportunities to serve clients that are intentionally helping people around the world, and to build a business that brings joy and healing to my life and those lives around me.

How has your business pivoted since launching in 2014?

Plum & Parcel moved from primarily executing short-term public relations (PR) campaigns to being a more holistic integrated marketing communications (IMC) agency that advises on internal and external marketing communications strategies. Our clients have always been purpose-driven brands, but our “bread and butter” is helping established companies think more thoughtfully about their messaging goals and the channels they use to carry their message(s) forward.

What type of content will you share on this blog?

We will focus on a few key pillars, including:

  • Basic integrated marketing and communications tips and education

  • Encouragement for how to live purposefully and witness well, in and outside the workplace

  • Behind-the-scenes content from impactful purpose-driven brands and guests in the marketing communications space, including Plum & Parcel

What’s your favorite or preferred marketing or communication channel?

Right now, I am LOVING podcasting. If you haven’t tuned into the Marketing Your Purpose podcast yet, do it! I love storytelling and am super passionate about inspiring others to drive more light into the world through their purpose-driven businesses. This platform is one of the ways I can continue to do that.

I love that I can tuck my kiddos into bed, wash my face and sit down to record in my pjs. I don’t have to be anywhere or anything to anyone but myself. I’m grateful to have a solid group of women who show up to listen every week!

Who are the people who have been the most helpful in getting you to where you are today? How have they impacted your life and career?

  • My parents. At the time of selecting my major, my mom was a career and college counselor. She helped direct me into public relations and advertising based on my passion for writing and skill for production. My dad is a small business owner. His “flexible” schedule and hard work ethic influenced my own entrepreneurship calling. To see how he has honored foundational needs alongside his work, including coaching his kids’ sports teams, is something I admire and desire for myself.

  • My patient, financial savvy husband of nearly ten years. He has been a strategic partner in launching and re-launching Plum & Parcel, as well as my cheerleader in honoring God’s calling on my life.

  • There have been a handful of other influential marketers, communicators and entrepreneurs over the course of the years. They have helped me focus on my purpose and provided sound advice when I have lost my footing.

Influences in Austin’s life

“My dad is a small business owner. His ‘flexible’ schedule and hard work ethic influenced my own entrepreneurship calling.”

What gets you up in the morning?

My three-year-old daughter and one-year-old son. I love being a mom. It is a role that I cherish and prioritize.
